Bad Points

Failed to inform us that there were rumours of XL going down, a day after i booked a holiday with them XL collapsed.
Failed to send proper confirmation of payment and general paperwork that was needed to make the claims, had to fight tooth and nail to get them.
Still waiting for my money from them.


General Comments

Bookable Holidays is the worst tourist agency i have ever used. We booked for Egypt trip a FEW days before the XL collapse. This was late September, bookable holidays refused to send us any proof of payment, tickets... anything relating to proof that we were going, pretty much all we had was the credit card statement that showed that we did infact pay them. Then after all the drama they managed to refund the hotel booking, but for the flight they said we must go to ATOL. 6 and a half months later ATOL says that they cannot refund our flight tickets and we must get it back from Bookable!! So now I will be on the phone with them from Monday, i am not looking forward to it, and I will sue them if I have to. They are completely incompetent(friendly as all hell, telling you everything will be fine etc. etc.) and yet nothing gets done...

    I found this review helpful because... I am in a similar situation and have had to involve ABTA. Realistically there is little prospect of us getting any compensation from this firm.

    Hi, have you also paid by credit card? according to here consumerdirect the credit card company can pay us back, we will be talking to them this week. according to bookable holidays, our claim has been passed onto their solicitors and they are "looking into it" for almost 2 months now.... its infuriating and we also fear that we may not get our money back...
