General Comments

I went into Kwik Fit Tyre and Exhaust Centre for a loose handbrake. They tightened this up for free, which I was very grateful for, but also said I needed a new offside front tyre.

Fine I thought and paid them £60 for this. It was obvious driving back that the steering was off and I was struggling to keep the car in a straight line. It was pulling left.

I checked the tyre pressures and they were all over the place so i equalised them, but it didnt fix it so I went back.

They did something and told me to see how it went. It went badly so I went back again. It still wasnt right and now the steering wheel is well off centre.

I gave up and went to a proper garage who did some investigation and found that again, the tyre pressures are all over the place. Theyve basicallty inflated the tyres on the left to popping point, and run down the ones on the right to create drag, and set the tracking all over to the right for good measure.

No wonder my car could barely go in a straight line. Although all this just made the left pull even worse somehow.

Also the new tyre isnt seated correctly and the valve on is is knackered and leaking air.

The alignment and valve repair cost me £45, as well as 3 pointless visits to Kwik Fit until I gave up and went somewhere else.

I could imagine this kind of awful quality control from a little dodgy independent. Im told that it depends on which one you go to, but then youre back to word of mouth which surely defeats the point of going to a chain place?

Anyway theyre not going near my car again.
