Bad Points

Suck you in with cheap premiums, then don't cough up! Worthless.


General Comments

Customer value nil! I have paid my premiums to Sainsbury's Petcare pet insurance for 5 years (2004). I have never claimed from them from what I can recall. This year i took my dog to vet for dermatitis and they have just sent a rather brief letter to say they won't be paying it! I may as well not have had insurance because the claim was for less than the premiums I paid.
I too was amazed at the amount of increase for premiums each year and as I hadn't claimed on policy reissued with the same company.
Big mistake - I had taken my dog to vet for something in July but had never claimed on insurance as treatment less than excess- Bam they had me.
Unfortunately I'd have to say Sainsburys have you over a barrel. They have cheap initial premiums but then boost the price and if you've taken your pet to the vet you are stuck! You need to decide whether you're happy to pay a company that may or may not pay out or put money away (and from some of the premiums and going on what I've paid over the last 5 years I may well be doing that!). Showing my disgust with my wallet!
