Good Points

Bad Points

Ford Transit 260 SWB- Poor engineering practices and poor design that leads to expensive and ongoing repairs.
Repaired and regassed Air con condensor, repaired heater blower resistors and replaced alternator (now on 4th), replaced Injection pump, clutch fan, starter motor, gearbox(came apart by itself!), sliding door lower bearing. Seatbelts do not self retract anymore. Rear wheel brake cylinders do not line up properly with brake shoes resulting in uneven shoe wear. Spare tyre winch is a nightmare to use. Right front wheel nuts have come loose twice! Fuel tank does not fill properly due to bad design. NOTE: I have not abused vehicle in any way and van is at 374,000kms only.

General Comments

Ford Transit 260 SWB 1998 LWB Mid roof 2.5 diesel turbo Van. Cheaply made and engineered to fail prematurely by use of sub-standard parts. Have spent $12,500 AU in repairs and replacements in the last 4 1/2 years and the van is only 10 years old!!! I have never had so much fail in a vehicle before in 35 years of driving. Ford customer service? What is that? Why are Ford allowed to sell these?
