Good Points

Gearbox is good, comfortable inside, good sounding door slam!


Bad Points

Poor trim level for the car, gear ratios and power are appalling, so unless you like the sound of a screaming 1.4, you'll get no power. Unless the AC is on, the car gets hot inside very quickly. Strange pockety thing on the ceiling near the light switches is no good for anything!


General Comments

The Volkswagen Golf 1.4 S is not bad for comfort, and the gearbox is nice and solid. However, unless you are happy to rev this above 4000 all the time, there is absolutely no grunt, and the 14 seconds 0-60 is optimistic at the least! Not the best VW at all!
