Jane Lyndsey's Review of L. J. Smith, The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Nightfall
4th Apr 2009
Overall Rating
- Value for money

- FormatHardback
Nightfall, is fast paced, action packed, and has a lot of subtle sensuality. It's the kind of book that you really can't put down and when it's over you'll be desperately awaiting the release of the next Return book, Shadow Souls.
Bad Points
Due to some editorial issues, (I believe I read that 2 different editors worked on it , and unfortunately they didn't work together) the book does have some continuity errors. But, I have to say they really are not that big a deal, unless your looking for them line by line, it's doubtful that you would even notice them.
General Comments
I loved reading L.J. Smith's NightFall from front to back. It's a story that takes off from the end of Dark Reunion (1 week later to be exact) and is filled with action and scary scenes that will really creep you out, no matter how old you are. One of the best things about this new Return Trilogy, is that it focuses more on the character of Damon, a fan fave. In this book Damon *spoilers* is possessed from the first page in the first chapter which takes his already arrogant and antagonistic personality soaring to new heights. In this NightFall, Damon is a verrry bad boy. The demon within him takes his own wicked thoughts and amplifies them times 100! Making him one of the characters you'll love and then hate, only to love him again as he fights the possession off again and again in an attempt to do what he knows is right.
