Facility and equipment were good. Wide variety of classes held at reasonable times. Free child care provided until noon.

General Comments
I joined a Lady of America in Miami January 2009 - paid in full for a one-year membership. It just closed (March 2009) - without notice to its members or any posting on the door. I AM FURIOUS! I am demanding a prorated refund - will follow up with results in future posting. FYI: In Florida, under the Health Studio Act (501.012-501.019, Florida Statutes) a gym contract can be cancelled by written notice from the customer if a) the gym closes and an alternative location within 5 miles of the facility is not available within 30 days of closing, or b) if you have a medical excuse for not working out (doctor form required). If the gym closes, they have 30 days from notice of cancellation to refund your prorated membership (amount of payment unused). The Act also requires that they post a notice on the door. To locate the owner, find the name of the franchisee on your contract and look them up on sunbiz.org. Send the cancellation by first class mail and certified mail, return receipt requested. Contact the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services for additional guidance and complaints.
