'A Child Called It' evokes a boy's life traspassing from his heaven on earth to his private hell - and his mother is the tourguide. Dave Pelzer writes his own life from the earliest recollection to his present situation with all his ups and downs - but mostly downs. This is because when he was still very young, he was abused, neglected, ashamed and tortured by the only person who is intended to love and care - his mother. The reader is guided from the previous lovable caring mother to the abusive toruring - maching called 'The mother' who is ripped away from her humane figure and transformed into this machine who only wanted to destroy the only source she had in her life who was constantly awaiting the lovable caring mother's return. This was never the case as he succeeded in going away from under her scrutinizing attantion and put in various foster homes up to the point until he was legally able to take care of him self. He followed and achieved his life long dream - until he understood that the only way to fulfill his life was to help other abused children. Pelzer succeeds in giving the reader the most horrible or pleasent details in his life that makes the reader appreciate their life - with all the ups and downs. Dave Pelzer is the embodiment of encouragment, never-letting go, unconditional love and a true survivor.
