General Comments

I have been with the CIS since 2002; I have enjoyed hassle free service until my daughter knocked my laptop off the couch. The laptop was faulty and wouldn't power up. I called the CIS to make my first ever claim, they asked a series of questions and then said they would be in touch. A few days later I got a call from a third party company who said they were working on behalf the CIS. They then asked the same questions as CIS did and said that a claims adviser would be in touch, however due to the high number of cases they were working on this could take up to two weeks. I waited and waited; when they called back they then asked me to take the laptop to a computer shop to have it assessed, and to send them pictures of the laptop along with the original receipt. This was done and then again I waited and waited. After a few called to this third party company I got fed up and 6 weeks in I called to complain to the CIS, they were really helpful and apologised for the delay. They then called the outsourced company who then claimed they had lost my file. The CIS then called me back to explained what was happing, after a few days I got a call from the CIS who advised me of a laptop of similar spec on the internet, ha ha I have no computer so away they went again, they called back a few hours later and again offered a cash payment for a laptop on the pc worlds website that could be purchased in store. I agreed the settlement and the cash was in my account the next day. When I went to pc world to buy the laptop I was told the price was not the retail price but a discount price within a bundle. IE you have to buy the printer and anti virus to get the laptop and the stated price. When I called CIS they dismissed it by saying I should have check this before agreeing to it. I also never got the £25 back for taking the laptop to be inspected. Bottom line is the CIS should have collected the laptop for inspection, and they should really have billed me my excess and posted me a new laptop, and it should not have taken so long to sort out. When my insurance is up for renewal I will be looking elsewhere. What a way to alienate your loyal customers, well done CIS.
