249cc allowed a learner to ride it, the four stroke motor gave better torque than a two stroke, ideal learner bike.

You will need a bigger bike when you have passed your test
General Comments
the AJS CSR 250cc is a great little bike to learn how to ride on & maintain a machine on, I passed my test on one of these & it pulled 'two up' really well for a small bike, it seemed to hold the road better with a pillion passenger & I allways seemed to have a girl on the back of it.
