BitDefender Total Security 2008 does not hit the system resources as bad as other AV programs. You can pause the scan and it really does pause. You can excluse certain files and folders from scans thus reducing the time to scan. I found there was no phone number to call for tech help or customer service. All comunication is done over the internet. This is a big issue if you cannot boot or connect to the internet. Also there is an auto renewal feature that is a pain. Getting help requires logging in through the BitDefender application. The software is better than most AV packages as far installation and setup is concerned. Cost is reasonable. The biggest drawback is getting any type of help. Based on the lack of ablility to get service I would not recomend this software.
