I had high lights on my dark brown hair. I wanted to become all blond. The hair dresser turn my hair in strange combination of orange and ash. Then I decided to do it by myself. My hair is very long, so I got 4 bottles of Born Blonde lightener, 8 packages of the powder and 16 0z. Clairol Professional Developer .I mixed everything together following the directions. I applied that mix on my hair for 20 min or even less.For that I used a brush and gloves. Most of it I applied it as shampoo. After 1 hour and a half I washed it, my hair was very light blond. I mixed 3 0z . Born Blond Happy Honey Toner and a pack of Born Blond Cristal. I kept the that mix on my had for 30 min. And now I have the hair I've always dreamed about: light blond with even honey tone. I am so happy! And the every month root maintenance will be cheap!

I use a product by Clairol called "Born Blonde Ultra Blue" to retouch the roots. Then, if I want other tones, ... use Clairol's Born Blonde Ultra Blue. It will not make make your hair orange.
