Good Points

1) Best thing is the wonderfully rorty Italian exhaust note that turns into a metallic wail at high revs. Very addictive with the hood down!
2) Keen throttle response and free-revving nature of the engine.
3) Great grip from standard tyres, can be thrown into corners.
4) Interesting styling seems more exotic than the familiar MX5 MGTF etc. Rarity means that many people do not know its a Fiat.

Bad Points

1) Poor 3/4 visibility with hood up is a pain at roundabouts. Means you have to lean forwards and the over eager seat belts can lock.
2) Suspension is soft for a roadster perhaps to disguise the low body stiffness. Can shake a little on bad roads.
3) I've experienced poor reverse gear engagement, selecting 5th prior to reverse helps.
4) Insurance is pricey.
5) Parts not cheap but are readily available from dealers and motor factors. Approx £250 for OE exhaust , front discs & pads £50.

General Comments

I've run a Fiat Barchetta Cabriolet 1800cc as a second car for 7 years doing a fairly low mileage. In that time I've replaced the exhaust, wheel bearings, heater fan, brake discs and pads. So reliability isn't as bad as I'd feared - touch wood. The odd wiring gremlin - slow electric windows and dash illumination can be intermittent.

Overall its been great fun and surprisingly comfortable and practical enough for weekends away. Sharper more adjustable handing wouldn't go amiss though.
