Bad Points

Expensive parts.
Expensive to maintain.
Expensive tires.
No iPod integration.


General Comments

I have owned my Mercedes M Class for 1 and a half years (35 000kms) and so far has been reliable.

Despite the bad rumors of these cars I have found it to be a very nice car to drive and very practical for what I use it for. Nice car to drive.
Very good long distance cruiser.
Reasonable economy for a permanent 4x4 (11-12l/100km).
Good build quality.
Loads of space. I find it is just massively expensive to maintain.

Since owning it have had to replace the following:

turbo - 100 000kms (expensive)
brake discs and brake pads - 120 000kms (expensive)
2 tyres after 35 000kms (Dunlop PT 8000)
turbo damping pipe - 130 000kms
Bekker radio head unit is unresponsive to button presses sometimes.
