Bad Points

There persists a popular myth that they are difficult because they are foreign and have hydropneumatic suspension. Agencies are dreadful and overcharge and take public for a ride on the basis of the myths. Parts from agencies are expensive. Worst design problems: inadequately wet sealed rear radius arm bearings which need replacing after 120,000 miles as a result, rear door securing - tends to rattle without frequent adustment,

General Comments

Extremely good ride, low road noise, comfortable seats, durable (my BX 19TGD Estate is 18 years old and just run in!), cheap to maintain, very economical - over 50 mpg over entire life, flexible forgiving engine with loads of low rev. torque, great visiblility, wide doors giving really easy access, large interior space and huge boot for size of car, a pleasure to drive and handles very well- never managed to break out the back end even when trying on slippery surfaces, any loss of traction proceeds in predictable safe manner, accurate agile steering, parts are reasonable through OEM importers. Rugged suspension arms and use of taper roller bearings and no horrid rubber bushes - even on antiroll bars.
I can't find such a good car in the modern offerings from all manufaturers to replace my Citroen BX. I would sooner trust a long journey to my 18 year old BX than a new prestige car stuffed full of electronic deviceswhich mainly seem to just overcome design shortcomings.
