I chose Bell Car Insurance in the end as it was the cheapest, however excess wasn't that cheap, £500. I had an accident near to where i live, car skidded on ice, hit a parked car, my fault, car written off.

The turn around from the day i had my accident to me receiving my chq was just under a month. Not that long really when i consider other reviews i have read.

Car was collected within an hour of me calling the claims department, only problem i had was with the bloke that collected it, but then thats not there fault. Correspondence through the post was rubbish, as in lack of it. Most things were done over the phone and this was only because i was calling them to find out what was going on. The claims department team are polite enough and helpful. My claims handler was the problem, everything was in her hands to make me an offer on my car and this is when the process came to a standstill. She never answered her phone, i left voice messages for her to call me back, just to let me know where i stood. But nothing, i called the claims department, they said we will request that she calls you back, nothing, after two weeks of getting nowhere, this time they said they would give her one last chance to call me back and tell her if not then i was complaining to the manager, which i thort ok. What happens, she calls me back 1st thing next morning, funny that! Told me that she was going to look through the stuff and call me back with an offer that afternoon, which to my surprise she did! This was Friday, accepted offer over the phone and received my chq on the Monday.

I don't really know how quick other company's deal with the same thing. But what i will say is be prepared to nag the life out of them to get what you want.
