Call09's Review of Total Fitness
9th Mar 2009
Overall Rating
- Value for money

Plenty of equipment in main gym area.
Bad Points
Poor customer service. Shabby equipment with split padding. Dirty and generally run-down. Some hot showers but mostly mediocre tepid showers with very little power. Cold hydrotherapy pool and cold pool and shower area.
General Comments
I joined the Total Fitness Prenton gym a year ago. It seemed ok then but it has become very run down. Whoever cleans appears to just brush dust and bits into corners. The padding on the equipment has split and this can rub on your arms and legs when working out. The water bottle holders on the equipment are full of dust and bits of bottle tops (even chewy) etc.
I used the pool area for the first time recently and the hydrotherapy pool was too cool to stay in for long. The whole pool area was shivery cold and the shower area in the ladies changing rooms was cold. The hot showers were full of hairs and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned all weekend. Dispensers in the toilets are held together with masking tape. The customer service at Total Fitness is also really poor. Be warned, they're quick to take your money but when I had a query about something the staff at Prenton promised to get back to me but didn't, the head office haven't ever replied to my emails and when I eventually sent a recorded delivery letter it still took 6 weeks to get a reply (signed by a dept not an individual). Nobody will take any responsiblity for anything. The safest way to guarantee that they don't mess you about is not to join in the first place!
