I like the idea of the kettle of water keeping hot for hours, so reboiling was a lot quicker, it is a pity I cannot drink the tea or coffee made from this water.

As other buyers have commented the metallic taste will not go away.
I have tried boiling it up several times trying to get rid of the metallic taste, but it does not go away. Any tips on how to get rid of this metallic taste in the water would be greatly appreciated. It must have cost me a fortune on electricity, so much for energy saving. Also it easy to overfill the kettle and end up with boiling water all over the worktop. Not very good on the safety aspect of it. I thought I had put the lid on properly, but when it started to boil it was bubbling up and spilling out of the kettle and would not turn itself off.

I am very disappointed with this Russell Hobbs Energy Saving Thermal Kettle - Model 13618 and will be contacting Russell Hobbs to see what can be done about it. I cannot use this kettle to make tea or coffee. I did try and use the water to boil some new salad potatoes and it made the potatoes taste peculiar too.
We did purchase another stainless steel kettle recently but had to return it for the same reason. I bought it locally, so returning it was not a problem. I am not sure if I send this back they will refund my money as I bought it on the internet.
