Bad Points

Yes the cocking action is a bit stiff to begin with, but that does reduce with usage. I would rather have an obviously "tight" rifle than some of the other offerings I have seen.

General Comments

The Weihrauch HW 99s has good, solid German workmanship. Trigger has remained consistent and dependable for 10 years.
Very accurate when not held too tightly.
I keep meaning to put it across a chronograph, but am pretty sure that even after all the use it has had, it is still pushing out the .177 pellets at close to the legal 12 ft/lb limit. My first shooting love is that of full bore target rifle, shooting from 300 yards back to 1000. My 21 year old son has also caught the bug and has shot for Great Britain at under 19. I bought a .177 99s for him when he was 10 and it formed a fantastic base for him to learn all the basics of shooting well.
It has never let us down. Recently it has found a new lease of life and at 13 metres, with a scope is proving deadly to the (grey)squirrels in the garden.
Now that my son is away at university, I am using his bedroom window to increase the field of fire over the garden, so I have bought a 99s .22 for his room, and it is equally effective.
At 13 mtrs, using a scope, shooting with a rest, both rifles will group to 1/4". Guarentees a "brain" shot every time.
