General Comments

My friend has these Bose Accoustimass and I'm fairly familiar with how they sound.

I listen to a lot of jazz and I know my music very well, I also attend a lot of live concerts and I'm a frequent opera visitor (my wife's cup of tea) so I know what real music sounds like, both amplified and acoustic. The Bose simply doesn't deliver it. I don't know how, but there seems to be something sucked out that makes the instruments and voices sound unnatural. Really weird.
But what really makes me wonder is that there's no imaging at all. It's like all instruments are mixed and sounds are coming from everywhere. As though a violin has become a ten foot monster smeared all over the room. I don't get it.

Somehow I can understand people don't want big speakers in their living room (hey, my wife's one of them) but I really don't get they would get these Bose and sacrifice the music in the process. Honestly I've heard fairly nice music reproduced by relatively unobtrusive speakers that cost a lot less than this system.
