The Dark Half by Stephen King is a big book but it's worth every second you spend reading it!
I always hate to put down a book a give up on it half way through, I feel like I'm cheating the writer, but maybe twice I've read King's books I've had to do this. However, Stephen King has also given me some of the best reads of my life and all in all, I adore his work. The Dark Half is right up there with my all time favourites.
Thad is an author who acquires moderate acclaim, but is an immense success when he writes violent novels by his alter ego. However, Thad, feeling uncomfortable with this. announces this identity dead and will no longer write novels with it.
What would happen if this alternative identity rises from it's imaginary death into real life? Would it be angry with Thad for trying to kill it? Would he be angry with those who allowed Thad to kill it? And just how imaginary was it to begin with?
I don't want to ruin the story for you so I'll just say it's very dark, imaginative and engaging. You won't be able to put it down.
