We bought our Shar pei puppy at 8 weeks old. The breeder told us he had a chest infection at 2 weeks but it was cleared up with antibiotics in no time. One the first day we took him to the vets for worming and a check up, becuase of noisy breathing. Vet said that was usual for the breed. Overnight he had a bad reaction, we think to the worming tablets and was quite poorly, ending up staying at the vets and a £900
bill. Claimed on The Kennel Club Pet Insurance free 6 week policy, for it to be turned down, although he was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia as a cause of his problems, apparently they felt the noisy breathing and the chest infection at 2 weeks were previous clinical signs of his problems!
