Peter May's Review of Remington 1100 Classic Field 28 Gauge

Had my Remington 1100 Classic Field 28 Gauge for about 15 yrs. I like the soft recoil & extreemley good handling. Plenty of reasonably priced spares are available if you know where to look, as I find dealers & gunsmiths charge an arm & a leg to fit them, but if you can change the wheel on a car you can keep one of these running.
I have found that my early 1100 likes to spit out the ejector claw & give feed problems after about 10K rounds - I have cured (in part) the feed problem by replacing the feed latch & keeping it spotlessly clean, although after about 70 rounds I find the propellant residue builds up again & it starts to give trouble. To hold a M1100 on a British shotgun licence it must have a 'crimped' magazine reducing it from a 5 shot to a 3 shot, I think this may be a contributing factor in the constant jamming.
