I've found Karrimor KSB hiking boots excellent in all weathers , but my feet did get wet when doing the Sheffield Round walk + Stanage Edge in snow last week . I think that's pretty good for a year old pair with 500 miles on the clock , which haven't been re-proofed in six months.

In summer rain they're fine ; and I tend to wear them for all my day walking , even in the worst conditions unless venturing into true mountain terrain. Light weight and comfortable, but strong enough for moorland and edge walking , as in Derbyshire. No bad points really, provided they are seen for what they are - essentially three season boots good in all but the heaviest downpour. Drying out is slower than leather.
