For the money paid for the Breville JK71 Kettle (and the fact that it is part of Breville's Cafe Series flagship range!) i would have expected it to last longer. Very good kettle whilst it worked but stopped working after about 18 months. Can't get base off due to strange triangular headed screws but fairly sure the element has packed up.

If you are the sort of person who shops for kitchen appliances as disposables then buy this item.

If you expect things to last - Don't!

The matching toaster is still working though!

Why Breville don't provide Philips/Pozidrive/Torx screws is beyond me. The triangular inserts are presumably for Health & Safety reasons, but we're not all idiots; anyone determined to get into the appliance will succeed, but it's just putting us to more time & trouble to fashion a suitably modified triangular file (or similar).
