Have had my 1.6 Tekna for 5 months and find it great except for the claimed fuel figures. 42 mpg combined should really read approximately 36 mpg extra urban provided you get it into fifth at around 25 mph and keep in this gear all the time even in town where possible. Also coast wherever you can, do not go faster than 60mph and keep the revs under three thousand. And whatever you do, never boot the engine into the higher rev band otherwise you will bring down the mpg to around 29 to 30. So where the manufacturers get the claimed mpg figures from I really don ' t know!! I ran the car in very gently so there should be no problem. It has plenty of pull but on a run I can actually see the fuel gauge going down!! Very disappointing as the rest of the car I cannot fault. Maybe I should have opted for the 1.5 diesel version. If anyone has had a similar experience I would love to know. Comfortable seating for any back sufferers. Plenty of room between front and back seats with rear seat right back. Smooth performance and pretty good accelleration if you piut your foot down. pleasing body shape and good areodynamics.
