Within minutes of making an online request for an appointment with Weather Seal for a front door quote we had a phone call, offering an appointment between 3 and 4 pm the following day. My husband was advised that the appointment would take one hour, which seemed excessive, particularly as he has technical knowledge of the Secured By Design standard - the operator did not, and he informed her at length of the different standards as she did not seem to understand them. On the day of the appointment we had a phone call to confirm the appointment, then a further one to tell us that it would now be 6.30pm, and a 3rd call from the salesman querying whether the postcode given was correct. The salesman arrived early, and was pleasant but quickly admitted it was his second day in the job, and seemed unprepared. He showed us two brochures, but had no copies to leave us, and the wrong price list, but offered a 25% discount for being a show home. He left promising to ring us back with a quote. and returned shortly afterwards, stating that the price for the front door was £2865.50. I replied that frankly this was ridiculous given that the company had an up to 50% off sale, plus an extra 5% off for booking an appointment online, plus the 25% show home discount. He asked what we wanted to pay, and we told him that this is not how it works, he tells us what the cost is, and we decide whether to buy. He rang his manager, and was told to offer us the front door at £1800. We told him that given all the "special offers" they were still £600 dearer than the competition, and we were therefore not interested. We are not impressed with these business methods.
