Bad Points

Staff not knowing the basics. Lack of training


General Comments

Abbey Business Accounts offer free banking for basic transactions. At first didn't have problem as we just pay cheques in through cashmachine and draw money. Then one of the credits with 56 cheques went missing. They could not find them and advised us we would have to contact every one of our customers and get them to stop the cheques and issue new ones. This was impractical to say the least. They eventually found them 3 weeks later and said they had been been found in someones tray. More recently we had a debit on our account on 7th Jan saying returned cheque. As we received nothing in the post phoned a week later to be advised it takes 7-10 days for item to be received and they couldn't give us information. Still nothing received after two weeks. Phoned again and advised they couldn't help and that returned cheques could take longer as not a priority!!!! Still unable to advise me who the cheque was drawn on. Spoke to teh complaint department as not happy. They logged complaint and referred it back to business banking. Also sent email to complaints department as unhappy with manner of a member of staff at their customer services. Received e;mail confirming receipt and they would get back to me shortly. Phoned 5 days later and was advised that although complaint logged email not sent to business banking requesting informaton. It is now coming up to a month and I still await a reply. I know £27 is not a large sum but it could have been for any amount. They say that cannot find out who the cheque was drawn on. Surely they must have received the cheque and it must be quite easy to get this information.
