This is only my opinion but it is based on my experiences with Abbey Business Accounts to date. My business partner and I decided to take the plunge and set up in a new business. For this we needed a business bank account. We needed it quickly as we had customer contracts to win, and we needed to show our banking details. I looked on the internet and from a list of the Top 5 deals we plumped for Abbey. Free banking, just what we needed. I also had a personal account with Abbey and hadn't experienced any problems.This is now closed in protest. We completed the paperwork and took our ID details into my branch (Dec 2008) in order to speed up the process (ha-ha). I won't go into all the details but we are still not up and running. No cheque book or card, and we only managed to get an account number by harassing the branch staff in person. We have phoned Glasgow( the Banking Centre) and also somewhere in England. Various excuses have been given to me, "its the branch's fault""..."it's the head offices fault". We have been promised that someone will phone and they never apper to. I have complained by email, and been told it will be looked into but it might take weeks ( no surprises there). Why didn't we go somewhere else you may ask? Well we need to be operational and if nothing happens soon we will probably need to do so. However this means more delays and more time lost.
