General Comments

My biggest make up challenge has been finding a foundation that will look natural, give good coverage without aging me further (I'm 34) and will cope with combination skin without flaking in drier areas and clumping in oilier ones.

And a flawless, glowing finish would be nice too!

I use the Kabuki brush to apply the Lily Lolo Mineral Cosmetics Mineral foundation. If wearing it for outdoor activities, the finish remained flawless and dewy. The trick is definitely to 1. use a good base and give it 10 mins to settle before applying foundation - I used Clinique's City Base and blotted any excess before applying LL. 2. apply in thin layers using small round circling motions with the brush and build up coverage only where you need it.

Any time I tried to whack the powder on in a single layer, the result would be a powdery, cakey, non-dewy finish, no matter how much I blended and blended. I now sprinkle a tiny amount into a saucer, so little that it looks like it could never be enough. Tap the brush into the powder, swirl it round and tap the bottom of the brush on the worktop to load the powder deeper into the bristles. Then I start using the loaded brush at the jawline and work forwards and upwards with little circles. You can barely see the powder going on; it just looks as though your imperfections are being slowly erased and replaced with a more flawless finish.

I covered spots or uneven patches with a little of the same powder using a finer brush and blended it.

In air conditioned offices, I've found that the shine starts to come through on my nose and chin more easily so I've just ordered a sample pot of Shine Away and will see how well this works to solve the problem.

However, I definitely didn't have the usual problem of make up breaking up and going patchy in those harsh air conditioned environments so it was a huge improvement over liquid foundations. Also, I always break out on my chin and jawline when working in air conditioned places and this was definitely much better when using LL than any other liquid foundation.
