General Comments

We had a bay window fitted in 2006 by Everest Windows with a sash opening.
The fitters took an afternoon to do the job.Shortly afterwards we noticed the window would not open. Some weeks later another team arrived an attempted a repair. This was to prove the start of a very long running saga.
Our decorator noticed light coming throung under the sill, and was scathing about the workmanship.
It was to be almost 12 months before the window was finally made 'good'.
We had a succession of fitters coming to alter and add parts etc.One of the fitters commented that the original fitters had used the wrong technique to insert the sash window. Also they had not advised us to take off the radiator before fitting the window, but carried on with the job anyway.
We now have a bay sash window which opens but has evidence of poor workmanship to the interior, covered by curtains fortunately.
We think the original job was rushed.Everest subcontract fitters, and their workmanship in our case was dreadful.

Everest gave us a quote on downstairs windows - a bay and another sash.As a warning to other homeowners, get quotes from other installers, preferably local.Everest quoted a figure of £10000 for two windows. With 'discount' this was brought down to £5000 or so.There was the traditional discount if you 'signed on the day'.We then had a phone call from the salesman who offered to reduce the price by another 50%!
Of course we would never go back to a company which uses these tactics. How can the cost of two windows vary from £10000 to £2000 with the same company?

I wonder what energy rating the window actually was? Everest seem to often sell their windows with the verbal assurance of a high energy rating, but then after installation it transpires that the window either isn't rated or has a very low legal minimum rating.
