Good Points

Pleasing aesthetic design and brilliant high resolution display with very artistic display options provide a digital photo frame that is a cut above the rest. User control is very refined and if you want you can even turn off the Sony label on the surround of the frame! The display can also be set to switch itself On & Off automatically to suite your needs. I have several frames and the Sony frame is the best I have, the others being Kodak ones. You only have to see and feel the quality to be won over by the Sony. The remote control is very well laid out and easy to use. The Sony frame can also use EXIF data to display the time the picture was taken, this can be quite interesting as the display then shows an analogue clock next to the photo with hands that whiz round to the time and date the photo was taken. The 9 inch display is a good size to show off the display effects to their best. Being widescreen format 9 inches is not too overwhelming in the average setting.

Bad Points

Sony state that it is Bluetooth compatible but you have to buy the Sony Bluetooth adaptor separately. I already had a standard Bluetooth adaptor but the frame never recognised it and I had to purchase the Sony one. If they boast it as Bluetooth I think they should supply the adaptor not just the socket to plug it in. Some of the the Kodak frames are WiFi but you don't have to go and buy a WiFi card for them! If it were not for this I would have given the frame 10/10. The surround being very shiny fashionable black shows finger prints up so use the remote if you don't want to continually be cleaning it!

General Comments

My Sony DPF V900 Photo Frame has become a talking point when visitors come round. A tip I have for folk thinking of getting a digital frame is to caption your photos. This can be very time consuming but after looking around for ages I found a solution. I now have all my photos captioned with QuickCaption from www.quicksoftware.co.uk. It has saved me months of work captioning the photos by conventional means and now I know where I took those photos as it can be a concern remembering when you have 8000 photos on the frame as I have. I think QuickCaption should be supplied with any Digital Photo Frame as I find it is indispensable and so easy to use. If wanted it can also resize the photo to the frame automatically and allow up to 8 times more photos to be put in the same memory space whilst preserving EXIF data. Captioning your photos also saves visitors repeatedly asking "Where was that taken then?" and me looking a fool as I can't quite remember! Overall the Sony Frame is superb. The images it displays are brilliant and very high quality. The Sony people have thought hard about what is needed in a digital photo frame and have delivered it. I would not hesitate to recommend the Sony DPF900 to anyone.
