Good Points

Good on-board service. Food was quite good. Entertainment on the plane was good. The staff can do a decent bloody mary if you ask nicely. Planes are quite new


Bad Points

Doha airport has limited facilities and give poor information to passengers. Some connections can be long. No bar to while away the time


General Comments

I flew economy class into Hong Kong and out of Manila last year on Qatar. The service was quite good, and the food was as good as you can expect, though not exceptional. The staff were helpful and efficient, and were happy to ply me with alcohol to my liver's content. There was a good selection of entertainment on the seat-back system they have, though this system does mean that the person next to the window has a little less leg room as the unit which controls the entertainment for the seats is located under the seat in front.
Doha airport, however was really not that interesting and pretty anonymous with the usual collection of duty free shops and coffee bars. Note, there is nowhere to buy a beer while you wait as this is a Muslim country (though the airline does serve alcohol on their flights).
On the outbound flight we had an extended stopover in the airport due to a technical problem with the plane so spent a good four hours or so here during the very early hours where everything was shut and there wasn't anywhere showing any TV to watch, so that was especially dull.
In short the airline itself is a good standard and I'd fly on them again if they were the cheapest option, though the bits in-between flights really do spoil what would have been a pleasant travelling experience
