General Comments

I've had the Tom Tom One XL Classic for a few months now so I've really got to grips with using it.

For the money - this was on offer for about £120 back then - it was really good value.
The screen is large and easy to use. It has all the normal features you would expect from a Satnav and I'll go through a few of them for you now.

Navigation - the heart of the Satnav of course. You can enter your destination in many different ways and the Tom Tom One is not really any different from other devices. You can store your favourites, enter a postcode, address, point of interest or pick a point on the map. Simple stuff.

There are facilities for planning an itenary, altering your preferences etc so you can pretty much customise the journey and the whole look of the device.

This device also has the ability to subscribe to a traffic service and speed camera warning update. Now, a word of warning about this, and this is the only down side I have for the device. If you want to subscribe to this, make sure your phone is a) compatible b) has a 3G sim (you will need it for speed of download) and c) you have an 'unlimited data' package on your phone tarrif.

The problem doesn't end there and I have found that sometimes my device conflicts with the phone if I have my bluetooth headset on at the same time... then the thing reboots itself! Nightmare because it loses your journey. Simple to solve, turn off your blue tooth headset and don't take calls when driving!

When it's working ok, the traffic service has diverted me around various jams in the past and I'm sure the speed camera update has probably saved me points on my licence.

Overall, this is a good bit of kit. It won't let you down (barring the problem above) and gets you there everytime. It has only once sent me a little out of the way but out of countless trips, I can cope with that. Would I recommend it? Yeah, definitely. If you are a long distance lorry driver, delivery driver or rely on a Satnav for a living, you're probably going to invest a lot more than this. But for the rest of us who use it to find places occasionally, this is the very thing.
