I thought I was choosing a good car insurance policy at what I deemed was a 'fair' price (most definitely not the cheapest), and with a reputable company - but this was in fact the not the case.

Immediately after taking out the policy, I was away on holiday for three weeks, and on my return found two letters from Norwich Union requesting my proof of no claims bonus from my previous insurer. I immediately contacted my previous insurer who assured me that they would send this to me immediately - it arrived 5 working days later, and I immediately put (the original) in the post to Norwich Union. A few days later, I received a letter from Norwich Union telling me that my car insurance policy was about to be cancelled due to the fact I had not sent through my proof of no claims bonus. I contacted them immediately, but was told that they could not resolve my issue because my policy had been suspended. After three weeks of constant phone calls to Norwich Union, I eventually gave up - they have charged 4 months of insurance assuming that I have no no claims bonus (despite the fact that by the end of this debacle I had sent it to them twice), and are now refusing to issue me with proof of no claims for the 4 months that I was 'insured' by Norwich Union.

It goes without saying that I would not recommend Norwich Union / Aviva!
