I like the idea of a chain camera store in every high street as it means you can return items where ever you are and I have done so in the past with items that through no fault of Jessops I have developed problems whilst away from home. like a lot of shops in this field there will always be a `star` the one member of staff who knows what they are talking about. Unfortunately he won`t be wearing an identification badge when you need advice. Once again there always seems to be an arrogant one who doesn`t have time for you and just believes you are only there to handle the goods and then buy on line (probably true). These are observations that could apply to any shop but certainly hold true for Jessops. Customer service is very variable depending on store I have had good experiences in two northern UK shops regarding purchasing and returns but in a London shop recently whilst getting no attention from anyone the manager walked across from behind the counter and slammed shut an open cabinet right in front of me which contained the camera I was after and walked off again. `can I help you ? would have sufficed! Needless to say the item was ordered cheaper on line from another dealer.
All in all an indifferent store, convenient and with the occasional good deal to be had but generally more expensive than on line or other camera chains (LCE, Wilkinsons etc)
Recently they have been streamling their operation (closing some shops) so it may not be to rosy a future for Jessops but a shop in most towns still makes up for some of of the problems. Best bet is to check what offers they have at the time and if what you want is on offer go in armed already with all the information about the item you need before purchase.
