General Comments

Visited La Brasseria, Swansea for the first time for a family birthday meal, was so looking forward to it given the reviews I had been given. Was completely disappointed by the whole experience. I wasn`t aware that no beers were on offer and was scowled apon by the waiter for even mentioning such a thing! A bottle of red was ordered but as I don`t drink red we asked for a bottle of white aswel upon the waiters return, this request was greeted with a look of dismay from the waiter! As for the food, our party queued for almost an hour to order and when the starters arrived it was 15min before 3 orders were brought over and only after we enquired about their whereabouts. The main meals arrived around 10pm-but given that we had been seated for a 7.30 reservation- this seemed an exceptionally long time lapse. Main meals were ok with the exception of a halibut which was undercooked and when the waiter was informed he argued the point with our party member- whatever happened to "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT"!. The fish was taken back to the kitchen after debate but then the party member was without a meal for another 20mins, during which time almost everyone else was finished. When the plate was returned it was dry+ overcooked! The chips were also crispy and overcooked and quite frankly I`ve been to roadside cafe`s where I`ve recieved a better service, food and overall better ambeince! I will definately not return to La Bras and would not recommend to anyone.

All other reviewers, mostly regular contributors, rate this restaurant highly. I suggest the reason your replacement halibut dish took 20mins was because they cooked a fresh one and didn't just re-heat your apparent "under cooked" one. I also am guessing that you were there on a Friday or Saturday night at peak time when you will be delayed in service - the reason being the place is so popular, so good and therefore you have to wait. It's part of the fun. Drink the wine, soak up the ambience and relax, as you would were in Spain, Portugal, Italy or France.
