I purchased the premium top of range Yale High Security Communication Alarm System from Home base at £159
Nice bit of Hi tech equipment, It seems complicated at the start, but you soon get the hang of the setup system. If you can use a mobile phone set up, this is probably easier. It is easy to add or remove devices like passive infa red detectors, door entry switches, smoke alarms, and extra sirens. You can even have a remote FOB on your key ring. There are no wires to clip or route, which makes installation easy for the DIY installer. If wires and electrics worry you this is for you.
The control panel can be used on a table top or screwed to the wall. If a device fails or battery runs low, you can force the alarm to set and by pass the sensor. If you buy the telephone type system it can call you and 2 other numbers, e.g your neighbour, friend or partner etc. And also you can arm, disarm and control the system from your mobile phone. or any tone type phone. Handy if you forgot to set the alarm when you went out. Or even to check the alarm status.
You can have zones with the system, for example when you get in, you can set some sensors to be active, e.g your shed and garage, or the downstairs rooms when you go to bed. there is also a 24hr option though i am not sure why you would want 24 hour alarm facility unless you have a safe.
There are less bad points than good, they are as follows: When the battery of a device runs low they need to be changed. If your alarm bell/siren is screwed to the wall of your house you will need to get up a ladder to change the batteries unless you place it near an opening window (It could be dangerous leaning out of a window to change batteries or climbing ladders), but they are supposed to last 2 years with normal use. The DOOR / WINDOW switches will only work and alert the alarm system if the door /window was closed when the alarm is set. This means if you forget to close a window or a door and you set the alarm, your house could be open to intrusion without you knowing. Normal hard wired alarm systems will indicate a fault if a door/window switch is left open. This one does not. I found this disappointing and will rely more on PIR devices than door/window devices.
A very good system overall for the quick and easy installation to alarm a premises. Good value for money if you consider the technology involved in this system. you can cover out building, garage easily with not a single wire..
No cable routing, no holes for cables or floors to lift.
A large expense is saved by being wireless you could save 100's just on the installation. Generally I am pleased with the system, but disappointed that i am not warned of open window and door switches.
