I can honestly say there was nothing I would say pleased me about BMI Baby. Where do I start my original return flight from Malaga was cancelled they offered me another flight the next day when I tried to get through to customer services it took three days to get to speak to someone. On our way out to Malaga from Manchester the airport was shrouded in fog so we were expecting a delay, while sitting in the lounge in terminal three we noticed all the flights prior to ours were showing a delay then out of the blue the screen said our flight was boarding, we were dumbfounded as we could not understand how our aircraft could leave in fog when obviously the other airlines could not. We did in fact board only to be told we were going nowhere, and we were staying put on the aircraft till we were given clearance to proceed to take off, we were actually on that plane 2 hours before we took off. Now it was obvious to us that when we boarded we were going nowhere so why board. We were in those seats approximately just over five hours when we arrived in Malaga.

It is standard procedure that airlines board aircraft for an ontime departure even when there may be delays due to fog/weather. Once all passengers are on board an aircraft and the doors are closed the captain can forward a "ready" message to Air Traffic Control which means that the aircraft can be allowed to depart at the earliest opporunity. Delays as a result of weather conditions are often because air traffic control place a restriction on the departure time of each flight, especially when there is a backlog of flights to depart. By having the passengers on board and the aircraft "ready to go" this increases the chance of the departure slot being brought forward. The fact that you were unfortunate enough to have to wait for 2 hours on the plane is one of those things. The likelihood is that if the aircraft had not been boarded for an on time departure the eventual overall delay would have been more than 2 hours because the flight would be at the back of the queue in terms of aircraft waiting to depart. This is not the fault of bmibaby, and would have been a similar experience for other passengers that day on a number of airlines.
