Good Points

They covered our breed.

Bad Points

They will not pay out upon the death of our 6 month old puppy and are trying to use exclusions from one section of the policy to cover a totally separate section!!

General Comments

We choose the Gold Plan with Argos Pet Insurance, all looked good and we were happy with them.
Then totally unexpectedly on 4th December our darling puppy of 6 months tragically died from anaphylactic shock from the anesthetic, when going in for a routine operation (the death is not linked to the surgery as this had not yet started and she had only just gone under).
A couple of days later we contacted Argos about this and wanted to claim on the death of a pet due to an accident Section 3 we wanted to donate the money to a rescue centre for our breed as a tribute to her.
We were told that under Section 2 Veterinary Fees we could not claim as it was linked to the routine surgery!!! No where in the policy documentation does it state this!

We are currently proceeding through the complaints procedure as we do not believe that they should be allowed to get away with this! We are not after the money as this will not bring back our precious Lily but now it is the principal of the matter.

If this was an exclusion they should have made this clear in their policy documentation!!

I used to work as a claims assessor for another company and claims occurring as a result of routine procedures going wrong tend not to be covered for either vets fees or death, because these procedures tend to be elective, i.e. you are choosing to take that risk. Speying and castration are the most obvious examples.
