Good Points
The boat is clean and spacious. Food generous, if unimaginative. Cabins are of a decent size and failry well insulated from the general noise of on board activites (we were very close to the bar /disco but were not disturbed at night.). The all inclusive option is extremely good value as prices of drinks are high..
Bad Points
Like most Nile boats there is only one bar and this is where all the entertainment takes place; so if you want a quiet drink forget it! Daytime crusiing on only two days - this is as stated in the brochure, but it is a shame as daytime cruising is very interesting and most enjoyable (we know from a previous Nile cruise.)
General Comments
We were on board the Cosmos / Flash, Lady Mary during the Christmas week - our deliberate ploy to avoid Christmas. However, the boat makes a big deal of Christmas so unfortunately (for us) it was more "in your face" than it would have been had we stayed at home.
BEWARE the cost of trips. We opted for Abu Simbel @ £130 each and the Nubian Village @ £15 each - a total stated price of £290 for the two of us. HOWEVER if you do not have English cash and pay by card (credit or debit) then a 2% charge is added. This is only to be expected I guess BUT before the 2% is added the cost in English is converted to Egyptian at a VERY POOR RATE. When our credit card bill came home to roost when we got back home, £290 had become £342!!!!!
Our Egyptologis was very knowledgeable and very informative, but could she talk!!!!! Mind you, the same could be said of the Egyptologist on our previous Nile cruise. They really do want you to understand and absorb the history, but unless you are very, very, VERY interested I can assure you that you will eventually switch off!!
