Bad Points

No floppy, build quality not up to Toshibas. Only takes 1GB max memory. No serial port for old GPS receivers. Not splashproof?


General Comments

I bought this Advent 7016 on behalf of a yachting friend who wants to use it as a chart plotter. As the charts only take up 3GB of hard drive space and will allegedly run on a 486 machine, using the Advent is a bit of an overkill. Better to have and not need than to need and not have though! Good screen, powerful! also extremely cheap secondhand (£85 in Jan 2009) USB ports are USB2.0 Still has a parallel port so legacy printers can still be used. Quite nice keyboard action. Probably more computing power than a 1960s Mainframe. BARGAIN!
