Good Points

Initially there was an attractive interest rate


Bad Points

Speed of opening account
Only accepting cheques to open account rather than transfers.
Inability to make payments from the account and over 45 minutes waiting for and then getting conflicting information from Help Desks.


General Comments

This is by far and away my worst experience with internet banking. I had read warnings from other users when I first opened the account, but assumed it was merely bad luck, as my other experiences with Tesco were generally very good.
Initially I had problems opening the account and being able to see any details on it. However, as the money was in the account, I did not worry unduly on the efficiency of the processes.
When I came to make my first payment, as was unable to, I found out quite how poor the customer services were. As i had opened an internet banking account, rather than a normal account with a cheque book, it would be reasonable to expect that there might be a technical help desk available, in case customers did have difficulties. The level of expertise in resolving my problem in accessing a screen which would allow me to make a payment was farcical.
At least they were able to give me an address to write to in order to close the account.

    I found this review helpful because I have been having problems opening the account. Waited 40 days to get confirmation of a/c being opened. Tried to register on the internet and could not. Phoned and was asked all the usual security details. I was not happy when I was asked to set up my security pin on the phone as the operator has already so much personal details. I have decided in full the end to cancel the account.
