It took them 40 hours to get us from Gran Canaria to London, and during that time, they treated us -- and thousands of other passengers -- horribly.
Once we landed in Madrid we were told that our connecting flight would be delayed. For how long? Who knows. Uninformative staff wouldn't tell anyone what was going on. Some information was announced in Spanish. Other information wasn't announced at all, and their boards weren't updated regularly.

Then they put us on a plane, kept us there for two hours. Then they kicked us off. No de-icers.

Then we had to wait in a mob for an hour to get boarding pass for a flight the next day (seriously...it wasn't a line...just a mob of people, with no staff, no line guides, nothing).

Then ANOTHER 90-minute line to see where our luggage went.

Then ANOTHER 90 minutes spend waiting outside " at 3 a.m., in January -- to get on a bus for a hotel.

When we finally checked in (6 a.m. or so) we weren't told that we had to check out by noon, or that Iberia was only sending ONE shuttle to take everyone to the airport, no matter what time your flight was the next day (we even asked about this). So the hotel woke us up and kicked us out by noon, which happened to be when the one shuttle left.

At the airport, our 4:30 flight got pushed to...who knows. No one knew. Another line up then, waiting for another hour to be told that our flight would be delayed by 3 hours (it ended up being closer to 5 hours). The airport staff (NOT Iberia's staff) told us this was because the Iberia pilots were still staging a work slow-down/demi-strike, and that the delays had nothing to do with the weather. ' If the Iberia flight crew shows up, you will fly. But sometimes, they are not coming, 'we were told by one staffer. >And yet, once on board, they were still charging people for water (!?!?) and snacks. Please. Some stood in line for hours to get a meal voucher, but after a full two days of hassle (and no breakfast at the hotel), a sandwich just stops doing the trick.

After we finally landed in Heathrow at around 1 a.m. (when our trains had stopped running) we were told by Iberia staff that they couldn't give us a cab voucher -- so that's a 60 quid ride -- and that we could file a complaint with the airline but that we "probably wouldn't get a response."

So all that money we spend on trying to get a little rest and relaxation? Wasted by Iberia's poor service.
