General Comments

Okay, so hears the deal. Had one of these 17 years ago, and got rid of it for lack of use. Mine was first generation, with the hard pistol case that had Crosman Air Guns molded into it. The inside of the case was molded specifically for the gun, 3 C02's, pellets, and clips. Well, I was feeling nostalgic the other day when I came across one at Air Gun Source in Canada. Lo and behold, they had one last original case that they threw in for the gun (thanks guys!).

First off, I have noticed this gun has not received great reviews overall. I honestly don't know why. While it is not a German, mostly metal showpiece, it is a shooter. For $40 CDN, you can have a blast with this pellet gun. Even though the gun in 99% plastic and light, it will be faithful to you as long as you keep her greased up. I was getting 80 shots per C02 with consistent speed, and amazing accuracy. One downfall is that the first 3 shots of a new C02 tend to be high and right, but after this they settle right into the zone. At 13', I can easily put 8 shots through the bullseye, all touching! Cover them with a dime! Over and over again, this thing was doing what it was meant to do. I have had some $300 pistols, and not as accurate as these cheaper Crosmans (I am strictly comparing in stock form). Accuracy is largely in part due to the smooth trigger pull when using it in single action and the rifled steel barrel. On the flip side, double action takes a quite bit more pull, which will stray your shot, but you can fire off 8 shots in seconds! The sights on the 1008 are windage and elevation adjustable, unlike so many of the newer pistols on the market today. Plus, you can get it as a kit (with case), or pistol alone. The kit will come with what was mentioned at the beginning of the article.
In summary, this gun is great for someone just getting into the sport, or for people feeling like a kid again (me!). I am really pleased with the performance vs. cost of this pistol, and strongly recommend it.
