Bad Points

Make you feel like the criminal, Still waiting for payout after 4 months. Poor service, Poor communications. They told me its settled then forget another form needs be sorted that could hold it up weeks.


General Comments

If I want to waste £400 on home insurance cover I would rather burn my money than pay Halifax to cover me!
I took out a policy with Sainsbury's and have been covered with them for 3 years.
Got broke into (a walk in where keys were stolen, and they returned to clear me out!).
August bank holiday I found stuff had gone, and no sign of entry. I called the police who indicated that I had had bogus water board people around whom had nicked my keys and this had happened a lot in the area.
I could have bought all the stuff back myself but thought that seen as I paid my insurance it was there to be used!
This loss adjustor told me everything would be sorted by the 5th November 2008. I had already been told previously before the 2nd loss adjustor visited that the items would be replaced within the week.
I called back on the 5th November 6 weeks after the burglary to be told that the day before they requested a police report that could take up to 8 weeks! I questioned them why this couldn't have been requested back in September when they first visited me. Apparently it's their procedure as they didn't know they would need a copy of the police report.
By the 1st week of December the police report was in. It was all ok and had confirmed what I had said. They promised the stuff would be replaced within 48 hours. 48 hours came and went and I called them back only to be told that the claim hadn ' t be agreed yet by the loss adjustor whom you shouldn ' t get hold of because he was always out on appointments.
A week later he looked at the report and agreed to settle the claim. I was promised a cheque would be sent and items replaced within 48 hours. You guessed it, Christmas came and went and still no replacement items.
I called Crawford ' s back and was told that they couldn ' t settle the claim because the 1st loss adjustor hadn ' t given the 2nd loss adjustor all the receipts and manuals etc. Why the hell they hadn ' t been sent weeks earlier is anyone ' s guess! Any pro active person would know that these forms would be needed and send them!
Its taking me nearly 15 hours on the phone calling Sainsbury ' s, Halifax and Crawford ' s and I am still nowhere.
The total of my claim will be no more than £3000. I earn that in a week! I could have replaced the items straight away but was led to believe that the stuff would be replaced quickly!
I am now going to keep my money in a bank now and earn interest. If I get robbed then I will have some money to one side, if I don't its better in my pocket than theirs!
