General Comments

I was looking for an upscaling dvd player, but the one I wanted, a Toshiba XDE-500 was over £100, so couldn't believe my luck when it dropped to £59.99 on comets site, so I reserved one at their Gravesend (Kent) store, and went to collect it straight away.
The dvd player is indeed an excellent piece of kit, it does everything it should do, and extremely well, but included in the box is a HDMI cable, which is not of the best quality.
The salesman was quick to point out this fact, he then led me away to their cable area and proceeded to try and sell me a Monster HDMI cable for £50, which I said I wasn't interested in, but still he kept trying, and trying, and trying.
I lost count of the amount of times I said "no thanks I'm not interested", but it was more than 10, and probably about 14 or 15 times, at one point I said I couldn't possibly purchase one anyway as I had come straight from work and didn't have enough cash on me, and he still carried on, I thought his next move would be to escort me to a cashpoint to withdraw the cash, it seemed to me that he did not want me to leave the store until I had parted with some more cash for his overpriced cable, I felt imprisoned.
I am a very placid person, and I am told by my friends that it's impossible to wind me up, but I don't mind admitting that while this salesman was giving me the hard sell, while I never would have done it, the thought of physically assaulting him did cross my mind, he wound me up that much.
I have also never written a negative review of anything before, but in comet's case I feel compelled to do so, I think people should be warned about this, or at least be ready to tell them to push off.
The end result in this is, after a lot of online research and advice seeking, I bought a Wharfdale (1M) cable from argos, it is an oxygen free cable, has excellent shielding and gold plated connectors, and gives an excellent picture, all for £10, I'm very pleased with it, and with the £40 still in my pocket.
