Good Points

Cheap to buy. Perfect for first homers or people on a budget that need a dryer quickly.


Bad Points

Mine didn't last very long and starts to break down very quickly. Usually around the same time as the guarantee expires.


General Comments

I was bought an Indesit IS70C Condenser Dryer as a moving in present by my mum 3 years ago. At first it was brilliant, easy to use and did the job. At around 2 years old, the door catch stopped working properly. It appeared the door had dropped on the catch side so it wasn't fitting as snugly, so when the clothes inside it pushed against the door the connection was broken and the dryer stopped. I had an Indesit engineeer come out and had a new door fitted to the dryer, but within 3 weeks the same thing was happening again. Typically, the guarantee had expired so I made do with what I had. A year after that, the dryer started to lose heat and wasn't getting as hot as normal and not drying the clothes. It would only work on the high heat setting, but then only getting moderately warm, but blow nothing but cold air on the normal heat setting. It also then started tripping out the electrics. After taking it apart and having a nosey we found the heater element on the back had burnt out 2 of it's 4 bars and disintegrated. We purchased a new heater element for £45 from our local white goods supplier and repairer and the dryer worked perfectly again.... for exactly 3 weeks. When it lost heat the second time we took it apart and found that the whole heater element had burnt out and disintegrated into dust. I had been wondering what all the gold glitter dust was in our laundry.
At this point I gave up and bought another dryer. It was tempting to buy another IS70C as they are so cheap, but having it only last 18 months before breaking seemed a waste of money. So we spent a bit more and bought a Hoover one which is much better. I had an Indesit Washing Machine also, and again in 2 years it broke down. After some research I bought a Bosch one in the sale and it's brilliant! I won't be buying Indesit again.
