Bought my 2002 Nissan Navara in April 2007 from an engineering Company that used to sub contract to us (They bought it new in June 02). I knew the vehicle and it had been regularly serviced from new by Nissan, when I purchased it, it had done just shy of 70K. On 23/12/08 I was travelling to my workshop when it started making a ticking noise, I slowed right down and crept the couple of miles to my workshop, I parked up and left it ticking over whilst I got out to open the gate, as I walked back to the truck it just stopped, (something it never ever done) tried to start it but it would not turn over it was as if the battery was flat, I tried jump starting it but still the same. The engine is locked solid. The Nissan Navara had done 130K at this point, I am in the process of stripping it down to find the cause, but suspect a con rod failure, I have removed the timing cover and cam chain & sprockets all fine, I have removed the camshaft cover and both cams look fine visually not broken or damaged/scored. Tommorrow I will remove the front final drive unit and drive shafts so I can get the oil pan off, then I'll know for sure. I was going to buy the Toyota Hilux, now I wish I had....
