Nothing much now. They used to be OK but not any more.
Bad Points
Excessive premiums. A total con with the "insured for life" policy.
General Comments
I took out the top level Petplan UK insurance and had it for a couple of years. I then claimed for a procedure that my dog needed and qualified for with the high excess I got half of my claim for £180.00 back. The next years premium increased by exactly the amount of my claim. Which got me thinking is this what they do with there "insured for life" they just keep jacking up the premiums every year to cover there outgoings? If you read the small print it kinda hints at this.
I stopped my cover after the following year after they doubled the premium, even without any further claims. This year my dog swallowed a bit of rubber and had to go to the Vets but even with the hefty vets bill it ws still cheaper than petplan after taking into account the cost of the premium and having to find half the vets bill if you claimed anyway. I think if you can afford there high premiums you can afford to find the money if something goes wrong. There new advert just makes me laugh.
